Our Whole Lives (OWL) 2026-2027

Registration for OWL 2026-2027 will be open until Sunday, September 6th. If you have further questions, please email our Director of Spiritual Development at dsd@usguu.org
Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a comprehensive, accurate, and affirming sexuality education program run at different stages across the lifespan. Unitarian Society of Germantown will be running the program for 7th and 8th graders this 2026-2027 year.

OWL will take place at Unitarian Society of Germantown on Sunday mornings from 10:30am to 12:00pm starting on September 20th. The program will run through early June. We'll take Sundays off for holidays throughout the year. You can see our schedule with dates and class topics here.

The expectation is that youth attend the majority of sessions throughout the year. OWL relies on regular attendance to build trust with a consistent group of youth and also to ensure that they are not missing out on content. If there is a reason your youth will have to miss a session, we ask that you let facilitators know as soon as possible.

Due to space limitations and best facilitation practices, we only have 16 spots available this year. We are delighted to welcome in youth from the wider community, however priority will be given to USG families. If we run out of space, we will let you know and try to connect you with other programs.

We look forward to spending this year together!

Parent Orientation Scheduling

Before the program begins, our facilitators will run a Parent/Guardian Orientation Workshop.

The goals of this workshop are to provide an overview of the curricula, the topics that will be covered throughout the year, and the underlying values of the program. The orientation also helps identify ways that parents/guardians can support their youth's participation in the program while also empowering parents/guardians in their role as sexuality educators.

We require at least one parent/guardian of each youth attend the orientation. Please check all the times that you could be available. We'll finalize the orientation dates based on availability. If none of these work, we'll reach out to you.
Please select all that apply.
Youth Information

Please fill out the information for your youth below. The information will be shared with the Director of Spiritual Development and our OWL facilitators, all of whom have submitted their background clearances to USG.

Media Release

We do not take pictures of youth during the OWL sessions. This media release is for photos taken during other church activities, including lunch after service, weekday events, and holiday celebrations.

I give permission for the above-named child(ren) to be photographed and/or video recorded by Unitarian Society of Germantown (USG)

I understand and agree USG may use the photos and/or videos containing the words, image, and/or voice of the child(ren) in internal newsletters, special church communications, or posters and may be shared publicly through our website, Youtube, or social media. USG will not use children's names in any images or recordings to protect their privacy unless separate written permission is given.

Parents or guardians of the above-named child(ren) can revoke release at any time by contacting Zoë Johnston at dsd@usguu.org

** This is a good opportunity to talk to your kids and youth about their preferences and have a conversation about consent. There's a short video resource here. **

OWL Registration Fee

OWL is an essential ministry of our congregation. We strongly believe that anyone who wants to participate should have access to comprehensive, accurate, and affirming sexuality education. But it also takes money to run this program! This includes the training of all our facilitators and material costs for the full year.

If you are not an pledging member or friend at USG, we ask that you make a donation to USG in recognition of the value of this program. We do not put a dollar amount on this request, whatever feels both financially accessible and meaningful is the right amount.

Our pledging members are not required to pay the registration fee but donations are always welcome.

If you have additional questions after filling out this registration form, please reach out to our Director of Spiritual Development Zoë Johnston at dsd@usguu.org. Thank you for being part of our Beloved Community at USG!
