Foresight and Climate Crisis
Facilitated by Michael Masso
The Climate Catastrophe is unfolding before our eyes, and the question now is, “How catastrophic?” We are too late to prevent suffering and loss, but still need to fight like hell to avoid the worst outcomes. What can be done to minimize harm? What can we do personally and collectively to cultivate resilience through the hard times ahead? Join us for a lightly facilitated conversation as we help each other process what is unfolding.
Format: In person
Dates: Monday, October 19th
Time: 6:30 to 8:30pm
Location: Sullivan Chapel
Facilitator Bio:
Michael Masso, USG member, spent 25 years doing humanitarian work in East Africa. He saw first-hand the impact of erratic climate patterns disrupting the livelihoods of people dependent on subsistence agriculture. Meanwhile Michael did a graduate program in Futures Studies through the University of Stellenbosch. It’s an inter-disciplinary, systems theory approach to long-term perception and planning. This discussion will try to apply the same type of Futures Studies thinking to understanding the climate crisis.
